How to Stay Involved

Public involvement is a critical component of this Comprehensive Plan. There are many different ways for you to get involved to help shape the plan throughout the planning process. Four main ways to stay involved are:

CAC Meetings
The Board of County Commissioners approved a Citizens’ Advisory Committee (CAC) to help guide the plan process. This group of 17 residents from all across the County represents a variety of interests and backgrounds. The CAC will meet with the planning team every six weeks to review products, share ideas, and craft recommendations for the development of the plan.

These meetings are open to the public and a public comment period will be incorporated into each meeting agenda. Please come and listen to the discussion and share any ideas or concerns you may have. Meetings will be announced in the newspaper as well as on the Upcoming Events portion of this site. Meeting minutes from each meeting will be posted on this website under CAC Meeting Minutes.

County Officials Briefings
Elected and Appointed County officials will meet regularly with the planning team to hear updates and provide direction on the planning process. These joint “briefings” will include the members of both the Planning and Development Council and the County Commissioners and are open to the public.

Meetings will be announced in the newspaper as well as on the Upcoming Events portion of this site. Meeting minutes from each briefing session will be posted on this website under County Officials Briefings.

Community Events
A variety of community events will be scheduled at key steps in the process as a means for broad public comment. These will range from “roll-up-the-sleeves” workshops, to small sit-down meetings with members of the project team and the public. Locations will vary and include sites in both the north and south portions of the County. Meetings will be announced in the newspaper as well as on this website under Upcoming Events.

In addition to these formal events, the planning team will also be attending regularly scheduled community events such as the County Fair, Rodeo, and high school sporting events. Look for us, come say hello and share your ideas!

Project Website
This website will be maintained as an up-to-date clearinghouse for Comprehensive Plan project information and work products. In addition, the site will host periodic surveys for residents to share their ideas. Sign up for our e-mail list and receive e-mail notifications of major site updates and project announcements.
